Home remedies are a dime a dozen for many households, but one unusual remedy that really works well is using the dandruff shampoo Selsun Blue for skin fungus. Skin fungus is common in certain areas of the body, one being between the toes. Commonly called “Athlete’s Foot”, you don’t need to be an athlete to get this burning and itchy rash, it is caused by a fungus called “tinea” that anyone can pick up. Though there are over the counter and prescription medications to treat this rash, they can be harsh and if there are open sores, the medication can really hurt when applied. Using something like the medicated shampoo, Selsun Blue for skin fungus can get rid of the rash without the bad side effects.
To use Selsun Blue for skin fungus, all you need to do is apply the shampoo to the area, in this example, the toes, three times a day. Just take a cotton swab and liberally apply it. You can cover it if you need to, but it is recommended to keep the area cool and dry since the dark, warm and wet areas between your toes when they are in shoes and socks is where this fungus loves to hide. If you can’t go without socks and shoes during the day, apply the Selsun Blue at night. Just remember, this shampoo is the color blue as well, so it can stain light colored clothing and bed sheets. After about 2 weeks of applying the shampoo to the affected area a few times a day, you should find little to no trace of your fungi friend.
Why does this work, however? There are some Selsun Blue ingredients that work very hard against fungus and one is called selenium sulfide. Commonly found in prescription medications to treat rashes, selenium sulfide is great at treating the itchy, red patches that are caused by skin fungus. Other Selsun Blue ingredients that can help treat skin fungus include menthol, which offers a cooling sensation which will fight against the burning feeling you get on your skin from the fungus.
As you can see, the combination of Selsun Blue ingredients that treat dandruff and sores on the scalp are also excellent for other applications such as skin fungus. Though it can take a week or two to fully heal, this is an easy, inexpensive home remedy for a problem that is recognized by many.
