Puppy Chow is a popular sweet snack that kids and adults both love. Made with peanut butter, chocolate and Crispix brand cereal it is delicious. Here is the original Puppy Chow recipe: In order to make Puppy Chow, you will need to combine ½ cup of peanut butter, ¼ cup of butter and a cup of chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Cook it in the microwave for about a minute, stir and add about a ½ tsp of vanilla extract.

In a large bowl, put 9 cups, about a box, of Crispix brand cereal. You will then pour the melted mixture from the microwave over the cereal, making sure you are covering and tossing the cereal pieces evenly.  Here is the fun part: in a large plastic zip-lock bag, place 3 cups of powdered sugar. Pour the coated cereal pieces into the bag and shake until the pieces are fully covered in powdered sugar. Serve in a bowl and enjoy!

If you are looking for a Puppy Chow recipe with some variations, try adding different flavors of chocolate chips. For instance, use butterscotch chips instead of the chocolate chips. If you want a really tasty peanut butter only recipe for Puppy Chow, use peanut butter chips and no chocolate. For people who love cinnamon, there is a Puppy Chow recipe that is the same as above, except you simply add some cinnamon in with the powdered sugar and use it to coat the pieces.

Instead of using Crispix in your recipe for Puppy Chow, you can use Chex, which is a similar cereal. There are flavors of Chex such as chocolate, honey nut and cinnamon that can give you a unique taste variation on the original recipe as well. Speaking of unique tastes, for adults who are looking for something exotic with their recipe for Puppy Chow, instead of chocolate chips, use a bar of 85% cocoa chocolate, ½ tsp of ancho chili powder and 1/8 tsp of cayenne. This is known as Mexican Puppy Chow, as originally, cocoa was spicy, mixed with peppers. Many people still enjoy their chocolate like that today.

As long as you store it in an airtight container, it can last for a few weeks as well, so you can make it ahead of time if needed. No matter if you are making it for yourself, friends, or family, no matter where you take your Puppy Chow, it is sure to be a hit with the crowd.
